Alan Carr Faces Backlash from Gay Community After Killing Tom Daley on Celebrity Traitors

Alan Carr has revealed he faced abuse from the gay community after murdering Tom Daley on the BBC's Celebrity Traitors. The 49-year-old comedian, who won the series, admitted on This Morning that killing the Olympic diver sparked criticism.

'I murdered Paloma [Faith]. I felt awful. And then the next week, when I murdered Tom Daley, I was getting abuse from the gays,' Carr said. He added, 'Oh, you've killed the only eye candy in the castle, Alan!'

Carr also killed actress Celia Imrie during the show. He described the moment he murdered Daley as particularly poignant, noting that the diver was knitting at the time. 'You go in in the morning and he was knitting and then he was murdered and there was just a bag of wool left. He had been murdered mid stitch,' Carr said on The One Show.

Despite the backlash, Carr's friend Paloma Faith, whom he killed first, expressed support for his victory. 'I feel that the reason that Alan won and the reason I was so sad was because we all love him so much,' she said on Uncloaked. 'I'm so happy that you won because it was bloody worth it.'

The Celebrity Traitors will return for a second series on BBC One in 2026.
