Wynne Evans has flown to Dubai with his girlfriend Liz Brookes following his removal from the Strictly Come Dancing tour over an inappropriate joke. The 53-year-old was dropped from the tour after making a comment about 'spit-roasting' professional dancer Janette Manrara at the launch show in Birmingham.
Further controversy emerged when a video surfaced showing Evans and fellow contestant Jamie Borthwick with a sex toy, reportedly shared in the Strictly WhatsApp group. BBC executives are said to have warned the pair about the clip, which was filmed two days after Evans's remark about Manrara.
Evans was spotted at Heathrow Airport on Friday morning, looking downbeat as he and Brookes checked in for their flight. An insider said: 'Wynne's had a lot on his plate lately; this holiday couldn't come soon enough. He's keeping tight-lipped about the BBC situation, but it's clear there's a lot going on behind the scenes.'
The scandal has reportedly cost Evans his long-standing advertising deal with GoCompare, which he had held since 2009. However, his Strictly partner Katya Jones defended him, telling The Sun's Fabulous magazine: 'Wynne has never made me feel uncomfortable in any way. We've had the most incredible time together, which no one can take away from us.'
