TOWIE star Yazmin Oukhellou reportedly cried 'help me, my friend is dead' as she sought help following a car crash in Turkey that killed her friend Jake McLean. The incident occurred in Bodrum when the car they were in veered off a cliff.
According to the Daily Mail, Oukhellou managed to climb through bushes back to the road and flagged down a driver for assistance. An unnamed official from the Turkish Prosecutors Office in Bodrum said: 'Yazmin's arm was bleeding and she somehow managed to get to the road. A passing car stopped, and the driver helped her with her injury and called emergency services.'
The assistant prosecutor added that McLean died at the scene despite paramedics' efforts. 'Ambulance, police and fire fighters were there very quickly but this was a very bad smash and most of the damage to the car was caused to the driver's side,' they said. Photos of the damaged Mercedes E class saloon showed dents along one side, with damage to the roof and rear.
Earlier this week, Oukhellou, 28, was reported to be 'stable' in hospital after undergoing surgery. A statement on her behalf said: 'Yazmin is stable and recovering in hospital after surgery. Yazmin and her family have requested privacy at this time. Any updates will be given in due course.'
Oukhellou joined The Only Way Is Essex in 2017 and previously dated co-star James Lock. It is not clear whether she and McLean were dating or just friends at the time of his death.
