Robert De Niro made a surprise appearance at the Stella McCartney Christmas lights switch-on in London on Tuesday evening, joining the designer for the countdown. The event, held at the Old Bond Street store, featured a performance by Lulu, who sang her cover of Shout by The Isley Brothers from the balcony, engaging the crowd in a call-and-response.
Dubbed 'The Stellabration', guests enjoyed treats from a Papa Salt Gin bar, a Peroni drinks station, and a StelloMello marshmallow cart. Wind-powered upcycled neon installations from previous events illuminated the space, highlighting the lack of sustainability often associated with Christmas. The brand noted that the UK produces around 30 per cent more waste during the festive period, including 289,171 tonnes of cardboard, 125,000 tonnes of plastic, and 500 tonnes of Christmas lights.
Attendees included British Vogue editor Chioma Nnadi, Adot Gak, Bel Priestley, Lola Clark, Lady Alice Manners, Louisa Harland, Calvin Demba, and Mary Charteris.
The celebration marked a bittersweet moment for McCartney, as she is set to leave the Old Bond Street location in favour of a new flagship store, with the new site to be announced later and expected to open in 2026. The current store opened in 2018 after four years of renovation, with an opening night that featured Kate Moss, Kylie Minogue, and Idris Elba.
