Johnny Depp Returns to Dior Campaign in Career Resurgence

Johnny Depp has made a high-profile return as the face of Dior's Sauvage fragrance, marking a significant milestone in his career resurgence. The new campaign, titled 'The Call of The Blazing Sun of Sauvage Eau de Toilette', features a nearly 30-second advert showing Depp reciting poetry against desert and beach landscapes.

Depp, who had been the face of the brand for a decade, faced uncertainty over his future following his highly publicised defamation case against Amber Heard. However, his victory in the case led to a new deal with Dior, reportedly worth over $20 million over three years, described as the 'biggest men's fragrance deal ever'.

In an interview with GQ Middle East, Depp expressed gratitude to Dior for their support during his legal battles. 'I’ve never been more touched or prouder to have had that support,' he said. 'Nobody does that, and the fact that Dior has, I thank every single person involved in making the decision to trust me and stick with me all the way from the bottom to the top and back down.'

Depp described his long-standing relationship with Dior as a 'personal partnership' and praised the company for their loyalty. 'Dior will always mean much more to me than just Sauvage,' he added.

The new campaign comes alongside the release of Depp's first feature film since the defamation case, 'Jeanne du Barry', which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to a lengthy standing ovation. The film, written by Maïwenn and Teddy Lussi-Modeste, stars Depp as King Louis XV.
