Rockstar Games is widely expected to release the third trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 within days, aligning with the opening of pre-orders for the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Evidence has mounted over the past weeks, pointing to a launch on June 25.
Pre-Order Date Signals Trailer Release
Rockstar Games recently announced that pre-orders for GTA 6 would officially begin on June 25. The announcement was accompanied by a brief teaser video showcasing the game's cover art. While the company has not explicitly confirmed a new trailer, industry observers note that major pre-order campaigns are typically supported by fresh marketing materials, including trailers, to maximize hype and drive early sales.
Take-Two CEO Hints at Summer Marketing
Further backing comes from Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company. In an interview with Variety, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the next wave of GTA 6 marketing would commence this summer. "The next few weeks I don’t think it’ll be summertime yet, but when it’s summertime, Rockstar expects to start marketing GTA 6," Zelnick said. Summer officially began on June 21 in the Northern Hemisphere, making the timing of a trailer release this week highly plausible.
What Fans Hope to See in Trailer 3
Speculation is rife over whether the upcoming trailer will focus on cinematics or gameplay. Fans are eager to see more of the actual game, particularly activities available to protagonists Jason and Lucia. According to a Rockstar Games blog post, the duo are caught in a criminal conspiracy across the state of Leonida. "Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them," the post reads. "But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive."
Previous False Start and Renewed Hype
Last month, expectations for a trailer were high after a Best Buy email suggested pre-orders were imminent. However, no trailer materialized, disappointing fans. Now, with a concrete pre-order date set, the likelihood of a simultaneous trailer release has increased significantly, according to multiple gaming analysts.
