Belle Hassan's family has issued a heartfelt plea for kindness after the Love Island All Stars star faced intense online backlash. The 27-year-old has been at the centre of drama following a dispute with Lucinda Strafford over Sean Stone, and later pursuing Scott van-der-Sluis, who was coupled with her friend Leanne Amaning.
Viewers criticised Belle for what they saw as hypocritical behaviour, leading to a wave of negative comments on social media. In response, her family released a statement on TikTok, urging fans to remember that reality TV is edited and that hateful comments can have devastating consequences.
“We understand that being on Love Island All Stars means people will have opinions. Not everyone will agree with Belle's attitude or behaviour, and that's completely okay,” the statement read. “But there is a difference between criticism and cruelty. Behind the edits, the drama and the headlines is a real person with real feelings.”
The family emphasised that the show only shows moments shaped for entertainment, and asked viewers to consider the impact of their words. “You can dislike someone's behaviour. You can disagree. But hateful comments, personal attacks, and threats are never okay,” they added.
Supporters rallied behind Belle, with one fan writing: “A 30-second clip does NOT define who someone is. Belle is a huge inspiration to loads of women.” Another said: “I really do feel for her, and I see myself in her. You can tell she has a huge heart.”
