Love Island fans are in for a major shake-up tonight as 28-year-old Newcastle builder and model Tommy Murphy makes his entrance into the villa. The latest instalment of the ITV2 dating programme's summer series is poised to deliver another dramatic development with the arrival of two fresh bombshells.
Among them is Tommy Murphy, who is set to join the line-up alongside fellow newcomer Simba. Their entrance will occur during the most recent recoupling, leaving three girls without partners. At that moment, they will receive a text stating: "You are now single and vulnerable. Simba and Tommy are on their way to meet you."
Simba and Tommy will be required to immediately select one of the three remaining girls to pair up with. The girl left standing will be eliminated straight away.
Who is Love Island bombshell Tommy Murphy?
Tommy is a builder from Newcastle. The 28-year-old states he is seeking a genuinely decent girl as character is extremely important to him. He maintains he has encountered numerous girls through his profession but is perhaps unaccustomed to fully committing in relationships. The villa might prove to be the ideal setting for him to break this pattern.
Despite being listed as a builder by trade, his Instagram profile is packed with experiences and photographs from his travels during modelling assignments. These include him appearing perfectly comfortable showcasing the latest strips of his hometown club Newcastle United. It remains unclear whether he has made a permanent switch from construction sites to photoshoot sets, or whether he successfully manages both careers simultaneously.
His social media pages also feature numerous snaps of him enjoying nights out with his mates and hitting the golf course. His online presence further reveals that he is a dedicated regular at the gym.
Tommy's approach to the villa
Despite having just three girls to choose from, it appears this won't deter him from keeping his options open. He admits: "I'm not going to shy away from going after someone I like. But when I get in the villa I'll definitely shoot my shot. You're there for a limited time, and it's the perfect setting to meet someone. I couldn't sit there thinking, 'I like her, but I'm too shy to talk to her.' That just wouldn't happen. I'll go from defender to striker, I'm a versatile player!"
The prospect of competing with fellow contestants for the same girl does little to faze him either. He says: "I actually like competition. Someone always wants to be the loudest person in the room, and I'm usually somewhere in the mix. I think competition makes things more exciting. You wouldn't want it to be too easy."
Love Island airs Sunday through Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and streaming on ITVX.
