King Charles May Snub Prince Harry Over Betrayal Anger This Summer

King Charles could reject a meeting with Prince Harry this summer amid ongoing anger over a perceived betrayal by his youngest son, according to a royal commentator. Harry is scheduled to travel to the UK in July to promote the Invictus Games, with unconfirmed reports suggesting a possible reunion with his father. However, the King may still be harbouring resentment over Harry's comments to the media following their private meeting at Clarence House last September.

Harry's Media Interview Angers Palace

Broadcaster Mark Dolan, speaking on the Daily Expresso podcast, claimed that Harry's decision to give an interview to The Guardian after the Clarence House summit was a significant misstep. In the interview, Harry stated that his 'conscience is clear' and that his focus for the coming year would be 'on his dad'. Dolan described this as a betrayal of trust, noting that Harry should have remained discreet and humble after being granted the meeting.

'It's my understanding that it angered the palace,' Dolan said, adding that the incident may prompt Charles to refuse a face-to-face meeting this summer, fearing that Harry will again run to the press to debrief. The Clarence House meeting was described by Dolan as 'one of the biggest strategic mistakes of King Charles' life'.

No Royal Visit During US Trip

King Charles notably did not visit the Sussexes during his US trip with Queen Camilla in April, further fuelling speculation of a rift. While Harry has returned to the UK several times since stepping down as a working royal, including in February and May 2024 and January 2026, the Sussexes have not visited as a family since the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. Speculation is mounting over whether Meghan Markle, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet will accompany Harry on his summer trip, although nothing has been confirmed.
