Prince William has stepped out at this year's Trooping the Colour, appearing to send a clear message to his brother, Prince Harry, as he arrived on horseback at the historic parade. The 43-year-old royal was pictured front and centre at the event, one of the biggest in the royal calendar, held annually in London to mark the monarch's official birthday.
A Clear Signal of Future Leadership
The decision to ride on horseback underscores William's prominent role in the royal family, a position that will one day see the event held in his honour when he becomes monarch. This move appears to highlight that William is the future of the Royal Family, while his brother Harry, now living in California with his young family, was notably absent.
Harry's Last Appearance in 2019
Prince Harry last attended Trooping the Colour in 2019, appearing alongside his wife, Meghan Markle. At the time, the couple were new parents, with Prince Archie's birth just weeks before the event. Since then, Harry has stepped back from royal duties and relocated to the United States.
Support for the King and Senior Royals
William's horseback ride also demonstrated his support for King Charles and other senior royals, including his wife, Princess Catherine. Joining him on horseback were Prince Edward and Princess Anne, who rode as Colonel of the Scots Guards and Colonel of the Blues and Royals, respectively. King Charles himself rode to the parade ground in a carriage with Queen Camilla.
The Queen's Special Role
The Queen had a special role in this year's parade as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards regiments, who trooped their Colour at Horse Guards Parade. While her husband rode horseback, Princess Catherine was seen arriving in the procession, joined by their three children: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and eight-year-old Prince Louis, who smiled at onlookers lining The Mall.
