Sherlock is a British mystery crime drama television series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories. Created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, the show stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson. The television series aired from 2010 to 2017 and was filmed mainly in Cardiff.

The series synopsis reads: 'In this contemporary version of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective stories, Dr John Watson is a war vet just home from Afghanistan. He meets the brilliant but eccentric Holmes when the latter, who serves as a consultant to Scotland Yard, advertises for a flatmate. Almost as soon as Watson moves into the Baker Street flat, they are embroiled in mysteries, and Sherlock's nemesis, Moriarty, appears to have a hand in the crimes.'
Sherlock's third outing has an impressive 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the critics' consensus stating: 'Smart, unpredictable, and terrifically written, Sherlock puts a contemporary spin on the legendary detective, thanks in part to a commanding lead performance from Benedict Cumberbatch.'
