The BBC has greenlit a four-part drama series based on Danny Robins' hit paranormal podcast, 'The Witch Farm'. The series, produced by Mammoth Screen, will star Gabrielle Creevy and Michael Socha. Robins, known for his 'Uncanny' podcast and West End show '2:22 – A Ghost Story', has written the adaptation.
Set in South Wales in 1989, the story follows Bill and Liz Rich, who move to a remote farmhouse in the Brecon Beacons. After a traumatic home birth, Liz sees a ghostly figure, leading to escalating unexplained disturbances. The couple's investigation uncovers dark secrets about the land and tests their marriage.
Inspired by real events, the series will take creative liberties for dramatic effect. Filming is set to begin soon. Robins described it as 'a supernatural thriller that plays out as the most deliciously dark detective story'. BBC drama director Lindsay Salt called it 'incredibly exciting' to bring Robins' podcast world to television.
The series is directed by Stacey Gregg, produced by Megan Ott, and executive produced by Simon Barnard, Gregg, Robins, James Gandhi, Damien Timmer, Nawfal Faizullah, and Rebecca Ferguson. Additional funding comes from Creative Wales, with international distribution by ITV Studios.
