Beyond Paradise aired its series four finale on Friday night, leaving viewers emotional and sparking a unified demand for longer seasons. The episode, which concluded on 1 May, saw Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) bid a heartfelt farewell to Zoe (Melina Sinadinou), the daughter of Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi), as the young character embarked on her travels.
The Shipton Abbott community gathered for a moving send-off, where Martha presented Zoe with a compass—a cherished family heirloom in a touching moment. Elsewhere in the episode, fans feared Detective Humphrey Goodman might also depart after he risked his position to protect his police team from redundancies. Humphrey faced the difficult task of making one member of his team redundant.
However, in a surprising twist, his mother-in-law Anne Lloyd (Barbara Flynn) intervened with a clever scheme. After what seemed to be his final case, Anne confronted Humphrey's boss, James Smith (Vincent Franklin), brandishing compromising photographs. Anne then revealed a shocking discovery: she had uncovered a clandestine relationship between the Heston Morley DI and Mr Smith.
Once presented with photographic evidence, Humphrey was promptly reinstated, and no job losses occurred at Shipton Abbott, ensuring a happy ending for the beloved police team. Following the episode, viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a collective plea for more episodes.
One viewer commented: "I really wish #BeyondParadise and #ReturnToParadise were 8 episodes like #DeathInParadise as we could watch so much more." Another wrote: "Time for my Friday comfort show #BeyondParadise only wish they made more than 6 episodes series but they have their reasons..." A third questioned: "I wonder BBC only commissioned 6 episodes of Beyond Paradise when Death in Paradise has 8 episodes???? #BeyondParadise." Others insisted: "There needs to be more eps than 6!" and "Six eps just isn't enough," while another added: "Exactly! Death in Paradise is 8 per series, so Beyond should be too."
Beyond Paradise is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
