Bridgerton showrunner Chris Van Dusen has outlined plans for eight seasons of the Netflix hit, each focusing on a different Bridgerton sibling. The first season centered on Daphne and Simon, but future episodes will spotlight the other children, following the pattern of Julia Quinn's novels.
Season two will focus on Anthony Bridgerton, who has chosen a bride but faces interference from Kate Sheffield, the older sister of his intended. Kate is determined to stop the match, fearing Anthony will be a terrible husband, but she develops her own feelings for him.
The season will also reveal the cause of the Bridgerton patriarch's death. Lord Bridgerton died from complications caused by a bee sting, a detail hinted at by the bee that appeared after Daphne gave birth.
Season three will center on Benedict Bridgerton, who meets his love at a masquerade ball. He dances with Sophie Beckett, an earl's daughter forced into servitude by her stepmother, but loses her at midnight. Benedict vows to find her, but is distracted by a housemaid in need of help.
The show has been watched by 63 million people since its launch on Netflix. Van Dusen expressed his desire to tell love stories for all eight Bridgerton siblings, ensuring the series continues with scandal, sex, and drama.
