Call the Midwife Fans Devastated as BBC Pulls Episode for BAFTA Awards
Call the Midwife Cancelled Tonight for BAFTA Awards

Call the Midwife Episode Cancelled Due to BAFTA Awards Broadcast

Fans of the beloved period drama Call the Midwife have been left heartbroken after the BBC suddenly pulled the show from its scheduled slot on Sunday, February 22. The episode, originally set to air at 8pm, was cancelled to make way for the BAFTA Film Awards, which dominated BBC One from 7pm to 9pm.

Schedule Changes and Fan Reactions

In addition to the BAFTAs, BBC Two screened the Winter Olympics closing ceremony, while Countryfile aired at 6pm and a new adaptation of Lord of the Flies followed at 9pm. The official Call the Midwife Instagram account confirmed the change, urging viewers not to panic and assuring them that series 15 would resume as normal the following Sunday.

Despite this reassurance, disappointed fans flooded social media with comments. One fan lamented, "Oh, I was so looking forward to tonight's episode," while another expressed frustration, saying, "BAFTAs should go on a different channel!" The post clarified that the show was merely taking a one-week break for the awards ceremony.

Future of Call the Midwife Confirmed

This scheduling shift comes amid speculation that series 15 might be the programme's final run. However, the BBC has firmly dispelled these rumours. During his radio show, Scott Mills shared a statement from the broadcaster confirming the show's long-term future.

The statement read: "The BBC would like to reassure fans that Call the Midwife will remain at the heart of the BBC for years to come. As previously announced, there are two Christmas specials, a new series, a film and prequel series, before a sixteenth series in due course. Call the Midwife isn't going anywhere!"

For now, fans can catch up on missed episodes via BBC iPlayer, with the next installment of series 15 airing as scheduled on the following Sunday.
