The first Traitor has finally been unmasked in the celebrity edition of The Traitors, with Jonathan Ross becoming the first baddie to be banished after seven episodes. Host Claudia Winkleman declared, “You’ve got one!” as the Faithful celebrated their long-awaited success.
Ross, 64, admitted he found the experience “more intense and much trickier” than anticipated, and confessed he wished he had been a Faithful instead. “I thought I'd be happy to be a Traitor, but I actually found it really hard just lying to people,” he said. He praised fellow Traitors Alan Carr and Cat Burns, calling Carr “one of the funniest men I've ever met” and Burns “the best tactical brain.”
Despite being voted out, Ross stood by his decision to back Carr and Burns as winners. “In my dream scenario, it would be Cat and Alan,” he said after leaving the castle. He added that he hoped they would “stick together and romp off to victory.”
Burns, 25, looked gutted to lose her fellow Traitor, saying, “I feel very sad because it was me, Jonathan and Alan the whole time but unfortunately he had too much heat on him.” Carr noted that the attention on Ross had helped him, saying, “That got me off the hook.”
Murdered Faithful Lucy Beaumont expressed shock and betrayal upon learning the Traitors’ identities, but admitted she would like Burns to win for playing the game so well. The prize fund currently stands at £53,000.
