Channel 4 has announced that Taskmaster will return for its 21st series on Thursday, April 9 at 9pm. The show, hosted by Greg Davies and Alex Horne, will feature five new contestants: Amy Gledhill, Armando Iannucci, Joanna Page, Joel Dommett and Kumail Nanjiani. International viewers can watch on the Taskmaster YouTube channel from 10pm.
Co-creator Alex Horne teased a 'never-before-seen Taskmaster moment' involving one contestant, saying: 'He surprised himself by what he revealed, and I was sat next to him, and it's a big moment.' Horne also revealed that Armando Iannucci, despite being a 'comedy legend', struggles under pressure on the show. 'He crumbles under pressure,' Horne said.
The previous series, series 20, featured Ania Magliano, Maisie Adam, Phil Ellis, Reece Shearsmith and Sanjeev Bhaskar. One challenge in that series sparked backlash from viewers, who called it 'the most disgusting and disturbing thing they've ever seen on TV'. The task required contestants to identify hidden objects using only one sense, with Maisie and Reece choosing taste and having to lick items including a frozen sock and human teeth.
