Coronation Street Double Exit: Two Characters Axed in Summer Drama

Coronation Street is set for a dramatic summer as two characters are reportedly being axed from the ITV soap. The exits come amid a schedule shake-up, with an episode dropped next week to make way for football coverage on ITV1, leaving just two episodes instead of the usual three.

In upcoming storylines, Gary Windass remains missing after failing to return home to wife Maria Connor. His whereabouts are revealed when he is found unconscious in hospital, with his condition deteriorating. Meanwhile, Kevin Webster faces a shock as he discovers his wife Abi sabotaging a car to frame his brother Carl, amid Kevin's own cancer treatment results.

Other plots include Bernie Winter's attempts to reconcile grandson Brody with his mother Lou, and a double date between Cassie, Steve, Tim and Sally that turns awkward when Steve's ex Tracy Barlow appears. Todd Grimshaw confronts partner Theo's daughter Millie over her fake pregnancy, while George Shuttleworth worries about Theo's jealousy of Todd's friendship with James Bailey.

James upsets sister Dee-Dee by insisting baby Laila's upbringing will be non-religious, leading Dee-Dee to secretly arrange a baptism with Billy. The fallout from the recent LSD house party is minimal, with Nina and Summer feeling they got off lightly.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
