Coronation Street's Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) is set to face another devastating blow as the truth about Charlie Walter's murder comes to light. After the recent revelations, Stu discovers that Lucy (Lynda Rooke) and Bridget (Beth Vyse) have both been charged with the crime.
The news comes just as Stu was beginning to rebuild his relationship with his granddaughter Eliza. Lucy had previously prevented Eliza from seeing Stu due to his past as a convicted murderer, but the tables have now turned.
Alya (Sair Khan) is consumed with guilt over her role in the events, but her new friend Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown) tries to reassure her that she did the right thing. Meanwhile, Bridget calls Stu from prison, revealing that she and Lucy have pleaded guilty to murder, and asks Stu to take care of Eliza.
However, the joy is short-lived. Social worker Felicity arrives and informs Stu and Yasmeen (Shelley King) that until Stu's conviction is officially quashed, Eliza must be taken into care. The couple is left reeling from the shock.
