Coronation Street Star to Exit After 40 Years in Dementia Storyline

Coronation Street is set to lose one of its longest-serving characters as Debbie Webster, played by Sue Devaney, will be killed off in a harrowing dementia storyline set to begin in 2025, Metro can exclusively reveal.

Devaney first appeared as the 15-year-old Debbie in 1984 and returned in 2019 as a ruthless property tycoon. The upcoming storyline will see her diagnosed with dementia, leading to a heartbreaking exit that a source described as 'one of the show's biggest storylines of the year'.

The source added: 'It's a real chance for Sue to finally get her time in the spotlight – it will just be devastating for fans that it will effectively be her final storyline.' The storyline is expected to play out over a long period, with Devaney remaining on screen beyond 2025.
