EastEnders viewers are convinced they have identified the mystery bride in Max Branning's 2027 flashforward, with Cindy Beale emerging as the frontrunner. However, fans suspect her motives are far from romantic, predicting a revenge plot rather than a love match.
During Thursday's episode, Cindy and Max shared a kiss after he apologised for the death of her son, Steven Beale. The moment was witnessed by a jealous Linda Carter, another potential bride. Fans took to social media to express their belief that Cindy's involvement is strategic, with one stating: 'If Cindy marries Max, it's 100% for revenge. She HATED Max for what happened to Steven.'
The theory extends beyond the wedding, with some suggesting Cindy could be the gunman in the flashforward, holding Lauren and Oscar Branning hostage. One fan speculated: 'Max is marrying Cindy in 2027, but Linda is getting ready to crash the wedding because she knows Cindy is planning something horrible for Max. She's the gunman. An eye for an eye, a child for a child.'
Cindy's hatred for Max dates back to 2017, when he manipulated Steven into a revenge plot that led to Steven's death. After setting fire to a restaurant, Steven tried to save Jane Beale, but Max pushed him into a countertop, causing fatal injuries. Fans argue that Cindy's sudden change of heart is implausible, with one noting: 'That look she gave him when he said he was sorry for Steven's death wasn't giving attraction for me, it was giving revenge!'
