EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw has revealed new details about Dean Wicks' return and the upcoming Christmas murder mystery. Dean, played by Matt Di Angelo, returns on Halloween night, which is a significant time for Linda Carter as she used to celebrate with her late husband Mick. However, this year she is encouraged by her mother Elaine to move forward, but her past catches up with her when Dean appears.
In a tense showdown in the Vic kitchen, Linda discovers that Dean has returned for his daughter Jade, who has cystic fibrosis. Clenshaw warns that Dean is not remorseful and still insists Linda lied about his assault, making him incredibly dangerous. He also returns as Cindy Beale's secret business partner in Beale's Eels, but Cindy quickly realises her mistake as contracts are signed. With no allies on the Square, Dean is a potential victim in the Christmas murder.
The Christmas storyline, known as 'The Six', involves six women and is an ensemble affair. Clenshaw is thrilled with the buzz it has created, saying the show wanted fans to speculate and share theories. He promises that the identity of the body will be guessed right up until the end, with many twists and turns ahead.
Clenshaw also confirmed that Linda Henry, who plays Shirley Carter, is on a break but will return. The 40th anniversary is also teased as an exciting event to come.
