EastEnders Newcomer Jasmine Fisher's Nightmare Family Return

EastEnders newcomer Jasmine Fisher is set to be left terrified after receiving life-altering news that her twin brother Josh and former adoptive mother Sandra have arrived in Walford. The sudden reunion, coming as she faces a possible prison sentence for killing her biological father Anthony Trueman in self-defence, leaves her feeling as though she is living a nightmare.

Actress Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness, who plays Jasmine, revealed that the character fears the arrival of Sandra and Josh could lead to her being disowned and replaced within the Slater and Trueman families. Speaking about the shock, Donaldson-Holness said: 'It’s a huge shock for Jasmine because this is a part of her life that she left behind as a child. For them to show up now, after so many years, feels like a nightmare.'

The actress added that Sandra and Josh's memories and opinions about the past could seriously damage Jasmine's relationships with both sides of her family, who are still trying to decide how they feel about her. Jasmine is particularly worried that history might repeat itself, especially after Zoe missed a prison visitation to spend time with Josh.

Donaldson-Holness also shared Jasmine's terror at the prospect of a murder conviction, saying: 'She’s terrified because she’s facing the possibility of either spending a long time in prison or being found innocent and released; both outcomes feel scary to her in their own right.' Jasmine is torn between facing the situation head-on in court or pleading guilty and accepting the consequences.

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
