EastEnders viewers are convinced that Stacey Slater's exit from the BBC soap will be a tragic one, as actress Lacey Turner prepares to go on maternity leave. Turner recently announced her pregnancy, meaning she will temporarily leave the show, and fans are speculating about how the writers will write her character out.
This week's dramatic episodes have seen Nish Panesar discover the truth about Keanu Taylor's murder on Christmas Day. Kathy Beale accidentally revealed the secret while Nish was plotting to destroy his estranged wife Suki Panesar's happiness with Eve Unwin. The villain now has leverage over the women involved in the murder, and they fear the worst.
Viewers recall that Keanu died after Linda Carter stabbed him while trying to stop him from killing Sharon Watts. The women buried the body and framed Dean Wicks for the crime. However, the police are not convinced Dean is guilty and have begun questioning the women again, as well as Nish, who was attacked by Denise Fox and left in a coma that same night.
With Nish threatening to tell the police everything, fans believe one of the women will take the blame. Many suggest Stacey will claim to be the killer to protect the others, allowing the show to write out Turner while her family remains in Walford. One fan said: 'I think Stacey could take the fall as she's pregnant in real life. She might come out of it to have her baby, we don't know.' Another agreed: 'I think Stacey will take the blame for killing Keanu.'
