Ellis Star Andrew Gower 'Very Easy Yes' for Season 3 Return

Andrew Gower, who plays DS Harper in Channel 5's hit detective drama Ellis, has broken his silence on a potential third series, saying he would be 'very easy yes' to return. The show, which stars Sharon D Clarke as DCI Ellis, has been a ratings success since its first season in 2024.

Speaking to Radio Times, Gower said: 'Oh yeah, that's a very easy 'yes'. To work with Sharon and to keep giving life to Harper and Ellis.' He added that the audience's response would determine the show's future: 'If we can keep entertaining audiences and they keep wanting more, then that's what we'll do with Ellis.'

Channel 5 has not yet confirmed whether Ellis will return for a third series. The second series recently concluded, featuring cases including the disappearance of a local boy and a student found crushed under scaffolding.

Clarke previously spoke about the significance of the show, saying: 'The thing I love the most about Ellis is that she is on our screens! I didn't grow up seeing anybody like her on my television screen.' She described it as 'a first' and hoped to 'pass that baton on to people coming behind me.'

In the meantime, Channel 5 has announced that the 9pm Tuesday slot will be filled next week by Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards, a factual drama starring Martin Clunes as the disgraced newsreader.
