A background actress on the hit HBO series Euphoria has described her experience on set as 'miserable', claiming extras were forced to work 16-hour days without prior warning. Ranielle Marie, from Los Angeles, worked on several episodes of season two but decided not to return after gruelling conditions.
In a TikTok video that has since gone viral, Marie alleged that extras were fed cold food and filmed in a 'dusty room'. She said the audience scenes for episode seven, titled 'The Theater and Its Double', took weeks to film, leading many background actors to quit partway through.
Marie pointed out inconsistencies in the background actors during the play scene, attributing this to the punishing schedule. She also noted that actor Dominic Fike, who plays Elliot, was replaced by a lookalike for part of the scene, though she did not specify why.
Despite the conditions, Marie acknowledged she was paid for overtime and described seeing the main cast as 'surreal', adding that most were 'nice'. However, she said the long hours left her feeling 'numb' and that she 'just wanted to go home'.
Another background actor corroborated Marie's account, calling the job 'draining'. The revelations have shocked fans of the show, which stars Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney.
