Hollyoaks has announced that Netflix star Sam Meyer will be joining the cast as part of a brand-new family, the Keanes, arriving in the Chester village this Spring. Meyer, who appeared on Netflix's Simon Cowell: The Next Act and was the final contestant before the formation of the band December 10, will play a cool, fashion-loving teenager with 'golden retriever-like energy'.
Meyer completes the Keane family, which also includes former Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden, Coronation Street actors Rebecca Ryan and Lewis Walton. Wolfenden, known for playing David Metcalfe, described the role as 'an absolute privilege' and promised the family will 'turn a few heads'. Ryan, who played Lydia Chambers in Corrie, said her character is 'feisty and a bit of a firecracker but fiercely loyal'.
Lewis Walton, who played young Mick in Coronation Street, will portray a charismatic, sporty character determined to follow in his father's footsteps. He added that an unexpected challenge will force his character to dig deeper than ever before. The Keane family's arrival is set to include a hidden connection to a beloved Hollyoaks family.
Hollyoaks airs from 7am Monday to Wednesday on Channel 4 or live on E4 at 7pm.
