House of the Dragon Season 3 has premiered on HBO, bringing new faces to the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons. The eight-episode season debuted on June 21 in the USA and June 22 in the UK, airing weekly on Sky Atlantic, NOW, and HBO UK & Ireland.

New Cast Members Join the Fray

James Norton joins as Ser Ormund Hightower, head of House Hightower and nephew of Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans). Norton, known for Grantchester and Happy Valley, brings a character with no love for the Targaryens. His other credits include McMafia, War and Peace, King & Conqueror with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, House of Guinness, and The Nevers.

Tom Cullen plays Luthor Largent, commander of the City Watch of King's Landing under King Viserys I (Paddy Considine). The Welsh star is best known for Downton Abbey and has appeared in The Gold, Insomnia, Mudtown, Trespasses, Knightfall, and Becoming Elizabeth.

Tommy Flanagan portrays Roderick Dustin, head of House Dustin and Lord of Barrowton. The Scottish actor is recognizable from Sons of Anarchy, Braveheart, Power Book IV: Force, The Perfect Couple, Gladiator, and MobLand.

Dan Fogler stars as Torrhen Manderly, a knight from House Manderly. The American Broadway actor's screen credits include The Rainmaker, The Walking Dead, The Goldbergs, Eric, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Joplin Sibtain plays Jon Roxton, head of House Roxton. He has appeared in Netflix's Safe, Memory Man, Andor, and BBC's White Gold.

Barry Sloane takes on the role of Adrian Redfort, a knight in Rhaenyra's Queensguard. Sloane has featured in The Cage, The Sandman Revenge, The Hack, and ITV's The Bay.

Season 3 Plot and Themes

After Season 2 saw Alicent Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen strike a deal, the Greens appear ready to stand down to the Blacks. Meanwhile, a battle between Sharako Lohar (Abigail Thorn) and Corlys Velaryon aims to break the blockade in the Gullet. The season promises Machiavellian power plays as factions vie for the Iron Throne.
