ITV has announced its summer programming schedule, featuring a mix of new dramas and returning favourites. The lineup includes the six-part series 'Joan', inspired by the real-life London jewel thief Joan Hannington, starring Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner. The show follows Joan, a mother trapped in a violent marriage, who becomes a masterful jewel thief to create a secure home for her daughter.
The third series of 'The Tower' is also set to return, based on Kate London's novel. Gemma Whelan reprises her role as DS Sarah Collins, investigating a teenage boy's stabbing while clashing with DI Kieran Shaw over an undercover operation targeting a drug lord. The series picks up two years after the previous season.
Additionally, John Simm returns as Detective Superintendent Roy in the fourth series of 'Grace', based on Peter James' best-selling novels. The first episode, titled 'Dead Man's Time', introduces new cast member Robert Glenister. The drama is filmed in Brighton and follows DS Roy Grace as he solves complex cases.
The fourth series of 'McDonald and Dodds' premiered on July 21, with the final episode airing on August 4 on ITV1 and ITVX. The summer lineup promises gripping crime thrillers and emotional drama for viewers.
