Jeremy Kyle stormed off the set of TalkTV during a live debate about asylum seekers, after a panellist revealed that migrants are being offered discounted beach hut hire.
During a panel hosted by Mike Graham, panellist Samara Gill disclosed that Portsmouth City Council is offering asylum seekers a 40 percent discount on beach huts. The revelation prompted Kyle to bang the desk, push back his chair, and walk off set, putting his head against a wall.
Kyle exclaimed, 'What do they need a beach hut for?' before admitting, 'I can't do this anymore.' Returning to his seat, he added, 'A beach hut! I live by the sea. They're £200,000! But don't worry; we'll give them to the migrants. But they'd need them decked out; they're pretty basic. I mean, what about Sky Television and a PlayStation?'
Gill also claimed migrants are being offered 'hypotherapy,' though it is unclear whether she meant hypnotherapy or hydrotherapy. She said, 'I've had to write all this down because it's so technical, hypotherapy for stress relief, because apparently not paying any of your own bills is extremely stressful.'
In reality, asylum seekers are being provided with a complimentary Portsmouth Leisure Card, the same one given to local residents on benefits, which grants 40 percent off beach hut hire for a fortnight each year. The card also offers discounts on paddleboarding, sailing, swimming lessons, and cinema tickets. Those receiving Universal Credit, income support, and other benefits are also eligible for these discounts, as well as foster carers.
