Kaye Adams Opens Up About Grief After Parents' Deaths

Loose Women host Kaye Adams has spoken candidly about dealing with the deaths of both her parents within a year, revealing she screams with rage as an emotional outlet. The 56-year-old lost her father Duncan, 85, in 2017, followed by her mother Cathie, 83, in July 2018.

Adams said: 'I cry and I rage. I take myself into a quiet space, scream and have a bit of a shout at the universe. Everyone needs an outlet. Some people go for a run, others use a punchbag, some people cry. I find shouting therapeutic.' She added that she never does it in front of her children.

The presenter admitted she has only recently allowed herself to feel happy again. 'I am only now giving myself permission to be happy again,' she said. 'Being depressed because your parents have been ill and you've lost them both in such a short space of time is entirely normal. I've had to work through it.'

Adams described being 'phenomenally close' to her mother, who suffered two strokes after her father's death. She was with Cathie when she passed away. 'My heart was broken and it was simply a matter of putting one foot in front of the other,' she said.

She credited her partner Ian Campbell, her daughters, and her Loose Women co-stars, particularly Nadia Sawalha, for their support. Sawalha came to her home in Glasgow and started cooking, which Adams found comforting.

Adams also recalled receiving the news of her mother's first stroke while at Sawalha's house celebrating a cookbook deal. She praised her mother's fighting spirit and said she cherishes the special moments they shared after the stroke.
