Eamonn Holmes Takes Swipe at GMB Viewing Figures After Joining GB News

Eamonn Holmes appeared to take a dig at Good Morning Britain's viewing figures after joining rival channel GB News. The presenter, who left ITV last year after nearly three decades, retweeted a comment comparing GMB's ratings unfavourably to his new show.

The exchange began when Daily Mail commentator Andrew Pierce tweeted about an appearance on GMB discussing Prince Andrew's court case. A follower replied: "About as badly as #GMB viewing figures now you best jump ship Andrew go over to @EamonnHolmes new morning show on #GBNews." Holmes retweeted the comment with grinning and thumbs-up emojis.

Holmes made his debut on GB News on Monday morning alongside Isabel Webster. He said: "I'm having some lovely messages from people all around the country who are looking forward to whatever we’re going to do differently. Hopefully we are going to do lots of things differently. We’re going to do news, but we’re going to do news with views."

Holmes quit ITV after his role on This Morning was reduced, with his Friday slot replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary. His wife Ruth Langsford continues to present Loose Women on ITV.

Reaction to Holmes's GB News debut was mixed, with some viewers praising the show while others criticised his performance. One viewer tweeted: "Accidentally clicked on #gbnews this morning and poor old Eamonn Holmes looks half asleep." Another said: "What a great start for Eamonn and Isabel's new breakfast show."
