La Voix, the first drag queen to appear on Strictly Come Dancing, has revealed her backstage conversations with host Tess Daly. The performer, partnered with Aljaž Škorjanec, has expressed interest in taking over as presenter when Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman leave the show.
In an interview with The Sun, La Voix said she would like to become Tess Daly's stylist if she does not land the presenting role. She described their behind-the-scenes banter, noting that Daly often asks for her opinion on outfits and encourages her to share comments on air.
La Voix said: 'If I don't get the presenting job I would like to be Tess' stylist moving forward. I'm empowering her with my observational awareness. Tess has responded more beautifully than I expected. Every week she will come up to me backstage and say, "Come on La Voix, what have you got to say on this outfit then." But she'll stop me and say, "Let's save it for on air" - she eggs me on. I'm so glad that she is in on the joke. I love her humour.'
However, La Voix will not dance in this weekend's Blackpool special due to an injury. A Strictly spokesperson confirmed she has been advised to rest and will receive a bye through to next week. La Voix expressed devastation at missing the iconic venue but said her focus is on recovery.
