Line of Duty star Vicky McClure has stated that there is currently no word on a seventh series of the hit BBC drama. Speaking to The Guardian, the actress, who plays Kate Fleming, said: 'I don't know! I don't know, there's no word of it. I think we've all been really honest and said should that happen, we're all game.'
McClure added that she would be 100% on board for a new version of the show with creator Jed Mercurio and co-stars Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar, if they wanted to do it too. 'I'll just stick with the guys. I think when it comes to a close, it will be a natural close for us all,' she said.
The comments come after a divisive season six finale, which sparked fan speculation about a potential seventh series. The Daily Star previously reported that the show would return, citing an 'inside source', but showrunner Jed Mercurio told BBC Breakfast last year that there were 'no plans' for a seventh season, though he did not rule it out entirely.
While awaiting news on Line of Duty, McClure is starring in new ITV drama Trigger Point, which premiered on January 23. She plays Lana Washington, a bomb disposal operative, alongside Adrian Lester. Despite comparisons between the two shows, McClure told Digital Spy: 'I look at Lana and Kate and I don't see them together as the same people at all.'
