Coronation Street: Maria Exposes Gary and Sarah's 'Affair' at Dinner Party
Maria Exposes Gary and Sarah's 'Affair' at Corrie Dinner Party

Maria Connor, played by Samia Longchambon, is set to face her most challenging situation yet on Coronation Street as she becomes convinced that her husband Gary Windass (Mikey North) is having an affair with Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien). After weeks of noticing suspicious behavior, Maria decides to confront them publicly during a dinner party hosted by Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).

Maria's Suspicions Build

Longchambon explained that Maria has been aware for weeks that something is wrong. 'She's been clocking these little sneaky conversations he's been having with Sarah, and she's put two and two together. She's just convinced that they must be sleeping together,' the actress said. Gary and Sarah have been acting strangely since the murder of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), as they were among the first to discover the truth about Todd Grimshaw's (Gareth Pierce) ordeal.

The Dinner Party Confrontation

At the dinner party, which also includes Todd and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), Maria makes a toast and publicly accuses Gary and Sarah of having an affair. Longchambon described Maria's emotional state: 'She's relieved to finally just get it off her chest because it's been building up for so long. She's also incredibly angry at them both because she thinks they've been pulling the wool over her and Kit's eyes. But towards the end of the dinner party, you see that she's just really hurt. Beneath it all, she's actually a heartbroken woman who thinks she's lost her man.'

Explosive Aftermath

The confrontation leads to chaos, with broken glass and blood spilled across the table. Longchambon noted that Maria is not shocked by the outcome: 'She's kind of lit the fuse... This is exactly what she wanted. The moment Kit invited her to the dinner party, she thought 'Right, brilliant. This is where I'm going to do it.'

Future of Gary and Maria

When asked if this could be the end for Gary and Maria, Longchambon admitted, 'It could be. It's a lot to get through. If they can get through this, I feel like they can weather any storm. They've been through a lot of trials in their relationship already, but this is definitely the most challenging thing they've ever had to navigate.'

Behind the Scenes

Longchambon praised the filming experience, saying, 'It was brilliant. Director Dom Stephenson let us have an organized read-through first. Then we blocked it out on set in our own clothes, not our character costumes. It almost felt like we were doing a play, like a little spinoff drama.' She added that it was a luxury to have extra time to rehearse before filming.
