Pete Evans Quits Facebook After Neo-Nazi Meme Scandal

Controversial chef Pete Evans has left Facebook, abandoning his 1.5 million followers after a neo-Nazi meme scandal led to a mass exodus of sponsors. In a farewell post on Friday, he directed fans to his Evolve Network website, where he promised content 'without censorship'.

Evans sparked outrage on Sunday by sharing a cartoon depicting a caterpillar in a MAGA hat transforming into a butterfly with the Black Sun symbol, a Nazi emblem used by the Christchurch shooter. He confirmed awareness of the symbol's meaning in a comment.

The backlash was swift: 19 companies severed ties within days, including Pan Macmillan, Coles, Woolworths, and Big W. Channel Ten also dropped him from the upcoming series of I'm a Celebrity.

Evans, a vocal Donald Trump supporter, continues to promote baseless claims of voter fraud in the US election. He stated his health retreat will open in February as planned.
