Ranvir Singh, who replaced Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain, addressed his departure from the show on Wednesday. Speaking alongside Susanna Reid, she said that when thousands of complaints are made, they must be taken seriously.
Morgan quit his role on Tuesday after Ofcom received over 41,000 complaints about his comments regarding Meghan Markle. Singh described him as a unique individual who ruffled feathers and shook up the landscape of breakfast television.
Susanna Reid, who was visibly emotional, noted the ups and downs of working with Morgan, including daily disagreements both on and off screen. Morgan had stormed off set on Tuesday after co-star Alex Beresford criticised his remarks about Meghan.
On Wednesday, Morgan tweeted a quote by Winston Churchill, reiterating that he still did not believe Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey. He defended freedom of speech, saying it was a hill he was happy to die on.
Morgan also paid tribute to his late manager John Ferriter, who he said would have approved his decision to leave. Ferriter died suddenly in 2019 at the age of 55.
