Rupert Grint Warns Harry Potter Fans Ahead of New Horror Film

Rupert Grint has cautioned Harry Potter fans that his role in the upcoming Finnish horror film Nightborn is a stark departure from his beloved character Ron Weasley. The 37-year-old actor plays Jon, a father raising a newborn with his wife Saga in an isolated forest home, where they discover something is wrong with their son, straining their marriage.

In an interview with Variety, Grint acknowledged the film's graphic scenes and themes, including the emotional impact of childbirth, are far removed from the warmth of his Harry Potter character. He also noted his upcoming role as Bob Cratchit opposite Johnny Depp in a new adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

Grint, who has not appeared in a film since 2013, plans to work at his own pace, aiming for one project per year. He credits the financial security from the Harry Potter franchise for this privilege, saying, 'Those movies have allowed us to pick and choose, which is just such a gift.'

Despite the sacrifices made during his decade-long stint as Ron Weasley, Grint expressed no regrets. 'It was a great time,' he told the BBC in November, adding he is not tired of being linked to the role. 'I love meeting people who really felt this was a part of their childhood.'
