Silent Witness star Emilia Fox admits concerns over violent content

Emilia Fox, who plays Dr Nikki Alexander in the BBC crime drama Silent Witness, has expressed fears about the show's violent storylines. Speaking to The Mirror, Fox admitted she worries about the influence such content may have on viewers, particularly children.

The 26th season of Silent Witness is currently filming, and Fox revealed she has no control over what is depicted on screen. 'The producers and executive producers decide what to show in relation to what the audience want,' she said. However, she added that as a 'worried parent,' she believes television violence can affect real-life behaviour and desensitise audiences.

Fox also voiced concerns about video games, stating that exposure to violent imagery 'concerns me definitely.' She confessed she dislikes being scared and avoids horror films, questioning the thrill they provide. The BBC recently announced that Silent Witness will return in 2023 with new cast members Aki Omoshaybi and Alastair Michael.
