Stranger Things Creators Finally Explain Missing Byers Dog

Stranger Things fans have been revisiting the hit Netflix series after its finale on New Year's Day, and the Duffer Brothers have finally addressed a long-standing mystery: what happened to the Byers family dog?

The dog appeared briefly in the first season, living with Joyce, Jonathan, and Will Byers, before vanishing without explanation. Some viewers speculated it might have been dragged into the Upside Down with Will.

In a recent interview, the Duffer Brothers revealed they simply "killed off the family dog" because it was a "difficult actor." They noted that observant fans might spot a small dog grave near Castle Byers, suggesting the pet died naturally while Will was away.

The creators were also asked about the demodog Joyce kept in her freezer during season two. They chuckled and said it was "probably buried alongside their family dog."

Fans reacted on social media, with one TikTok user commenting: "They're just as confused as us." Another added: "These are very unimportant details to the story. If you wrote a show, you wouldn't include every tiny, unimportant detail either."
