Strictly Come Dancing Final Hit By Schedule Bombshell

Strictly Come Dancing faces a major schedule shake-up next week, with the results show moved from its usual Sunday slot due to the World Cup. The live quarter-final will air on Friday at 8pm on BBC One, followed by the results show on Saturday at the earlier time of 5.40pm.

The change comes as the BBC prioritises World Cup fixtures on Saturday evening. This week's performances saw Coronation Street actor Will Mellor and his partner Nancy Xu top the leaderboard with a Charleston scoring 38 points, narrowly ahead of wildlife presenter Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal with 37 points.

Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu, along with Fleur East and Vito Coppola, both scored 35 points. Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez managed 29 points, while Ellie Taylor and Johannes Radebe finished bottom with 25 points. Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima were unable to perform after Kym tested positive for Covid.

Body language expert Judi James noted that Will Mellor appeared frustrated after judge Anton Du Beke awarded a nine instead of a ten. Despite receiving two tens from Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse, the couple missed out on a perfect score. James observed: “Will did a double-up set of jumps in anticipation of success but when they got a 9 he shouted in what looked like frustration.”
