Susanna Reid Announces Extended Break From Good Morning Britain

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has confirmed she will be taking a break from the ITV programme next week, coinciding with the May half term. The 55-year-old made the announcement at the end of Thursday's show, which she co-hosted with Richard Madeley.

Wrapping up an interview about a new ITV programme called Rising Bills: How Can You Save Money?, Reid said: 'I love it. Thank you both for coming in. You can catch Rising Bills: How Can You Save Money? tonight [at] 7.30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.' She then added: 'Now, I am off next week, but Good Morning Britain is back tomorrow from 6am. Now, it's time to join Lorraine. Have a great day.'

It is not yet known who will stand in for Reid during her absence, but previous substitutes have included Kate Garraway, Ranvir Singh, or Charlotte Hawkins. The break comes just over a month after her last time off during the Easter holidays.

During Thursday's programme, Reid and Madeley discussed topical headlines with commentators Kwasi Kwarteng and Nels Abbey. Ranvir Singh also delivered breaking news about EasyJet, reporting that summer flight bookings are lower than last year due to Middle East conflict uncertainty, though last-minute bookings have increased. The airline reported a pretax loss of £552 million for the six months ending in March.

The pair also interviewed Race Across the World contestants Mark Blythen and Margo Oakley ahead of the grand final. The final four teams will face a crucial decision as they head north from Kharkhorin to Lake Khövsgöl in Mongolia, choosing between a shorter off-road route or a longer detour via the capital Ulaanbaatar.
