Romeo Beckham, the 23-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham, is set to make his acting debut in the upcoming film Forty Love, a romantic drama centered on a gay tennis romance. The movie, directed by Pierre-Ange Carlotti, will premiere in French theatres on November 25.
Plot and Cast
According to Variety, the film follows tennis prodigy Sacha Gallo, played by Paul Kircher, who has been training with his father in hopes of winning a major trophy in Paris. His world is upended when a charismatic rival, portrayed by Romeo Beckham, enters his life, forcing him to confront a challenge greater than any match: love. The synopsis states: 'For the first time, he faces an opponent of an entirely different nature – love. A force as exhilarating as it is destabilising – and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.'
The cast also includes Guillaume Canet, Catherine Deneuve, and Benjamin Voisin. The score will be handled by 070 Shake and Johan Lenox.
Production and Release
The film is produced by Chi-Fou-Mi Productions, whose president Hugo Selignac described it as 'a sensual, romantic and deeply moving romantic fable and coming-of-age story.' He added that it explores 'the demands of high-level sport, and everything that lies beneath the surface' and will be 'led by outstanding performances.'
Studiocanal is co-producing and handling distribution. Studiocanal’s head of international sales for films and TV, Chloé Marquet, said: 'Carlotti’s singular visual language gives the film a real edge, while its exploration of desire, competition and identity will resonate with audiences worldwide.'
Romeo's Transition from Football to Acting
Romeo retired from professional football in 2024 after playing for Brentford FC’s B team. He has since pursued modeling, working with Balenciaga, and now ventures into acting. A first-look image shows him with a buzzcut, locking eyes with co-star Paul Kircher.
