Britain to Sizzle in 34C June Heatwave Next Week

The United Kingdom is bracing for another scorching heatwave, with weather maps forecasting temperatures as high as 34 degrees Celsius next week. Meteorologists anticipate very warm or hot conditions as a high-pressure system moves in from the west, particularly affecting the East of England and the Southeast.

Met Office Long-Range Forecast

The Met Office's long-range forecast for the period between 15 June and 24 June indicates sunny weather for most regions, similar to last month's heatwave. The forecast states: Fine and dry conditions are expected across much of the UK for the first couple of days, with long spells of sunshine. Temperatures are likely to be above normal, with parts of the south experiencing very warm weather. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms, more likely toward the southwest. A more unsettled spell is expected through the middle of next week, with outbreaks of rain in the north and northwest, possibly spreading to the south and southeast. After that, high pressure is likely to become dominant, bringing widely dry and settled conditions, probably very warm for many.

WXCharts Projections

According to WXCharts, temperatures could climb significantly, with southern England potentially reaching 34°C. The projections show gradual temperature increases throughout mid-June, with substantial parts of England and Wales enjoying highs in the mid-to-high 20s. London, the South East, and East Anglia may see temperatures exceed 30°C, with isolated pockets approaching 34°C. In contrast, Scotland and Northern Ireland are expected to remain cooler, with temperatures ranging from the mid-teens to low 20s.

Summer Outlook

The Met Office's three-month outlook indicates a greater-than-usual likelihood of a scorching summer. While long-range forecasts are subject to change, meteorologists indicate that the developing high-pressure system makes extended periods of dry, sunny, and progressively warm conditions across much of England and Wales increasingly probable as June progresses.
