Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service are tackling a significant fire at a recycling facility in Widnes this afternoon (June 22). The blaze broke out at Fresco Recycling on Everite Road, located within the Towngate Business Centre industrial estate.
Fire Details and Response
Eight fire engines are currently at the scene. The fire involves approximately 700 tons of waste cardboard, according to the fire service. Photos shared on social media show enormous plumes of black smoke visible for miles across the North West region.
Public Safety Advice
The fire service is advising local residents to keep doors and windows closed while crews tackle the blaze from the exterior due to the risk of the building collapsing. All persons are accounted for and no casualties have been reported.
