Conservative commentator Candace Owens has made explosive allegations against the French government, claiming President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte are orchestrating an assassination plot against her.

The 36-year-old mother-of-four took to social media platform X in the early hours of Saturday morning to peddle what she described as credible information from a high-ranking French government employee. Owens claimed this source revealed concrete evidence of assassination plans being formalised against both her and French journalist Xavier Poussard.
The dramatic accusations come amidst mounting legal tensions between Owens and the French first couple, who filed a defamation lawsuit against the Republican commentator in a Delaware court back in July. The legal action stems from Owens and Poussard repeatedly promoting conspiracy theories suggesting that 72-year-old Brigitte Macron was actually born male.
Owens stated she had "deemed the information credible enough to share publicly in the event that something happens", though she notably declined to identify her alleged source or provide any verifiable evidence to support her extraordinary claims.
Legal Battle and Medical Examination Demands
The defamation lawsuit has taken several unusual turns, with Owens demanding that Brigitte Macron undergo what she called a "third-party medical examination" to prove her gender. In September, Owens told the Daily Mail: "We're going to demand Brigitte sit down for an exam with an independent doctor. We're coming for her medical records."
Tom Clare, the US lawyer representing the Macrons in the case, described Owens's ongoing claims as a "distraction" for the French president and "very upsetting" to the First Lady. The French couple have promised to submit scientific and photographic evidence disproving the transgender allegations.
Adding another layer to the controversy, Owens has connected her current situation to the death of her close friend Charlie Kirk, claiming his alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, had trained with the French legion. However, American authorities have not verified any such connection.

In her social media posts, Owens went even further by alleging that the US government is aware of Macron's supposed plans but is taking no action to protect her. She wrote: "I do not know who in the American government can be trusted, since this source claims our leaders are aware."
