Comedian John Mulaney took aim at US Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during a stand-up performance at the Hollywood Bowl as part of the Netflix Is a Joke Festival, mocking his third marriage to actress Cheryl Hines.
Mulaney, 43, departed from his usual self-deprecating style to target Kennedy, claiming he had met him a decade ago through the environmental group Riverkeeper. “That’s how much he shouldn’t be in the government — I know him,” he quipped, before delivering the punchline: “He’s married to that woman from Curb Your Enthusiasm and cheats on her like a dog.”
The joke reportedly drew gasps from the audience. Mulaney responded: “Sorry for the pearl clutch here. Sorry to drop that Public Domain information on the Hollywood Bowl.”
Kennedy, 72, has a history of infidelity allegations. During his first marriage to Emily Ruth Black (1982–1994), he allegedly cheated repeatedly, according to biographer Jerry Oppenheimer. He was married to Mary Richardson Kennedy from 1994 to 2012, during which he reportedly admitted to at least 37 affairs in audio footage obtained by Mother Jones in 2025. Mary died by suicide in 2012.
Kennedy married Hines in 2014. Last year, he was embroiled in a scandal involving an alleged digital affair with journalist Olivia Nuzzi, which he denied. Hines later said: “I think you always have to consider the source.”
Mulaney also mocked Kennedy’s Riverkeeper work, impersonating his raspy voice: “His old job was keeping the Hudson River, whose native fish is tied-off used condoms, clean. Now I’m in charge of your bones and your tummy.”
