Chelsea Reject Interest from Arsenal, Man Utd, and Bayern for Acheampong

Chelsea have made it clear that young defender Josh Acheampong is not for sale, despite significant interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs. The 20-year-old, who came through the academy ranks and made his senior debut in May 2024, has attracted attention from Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich.

Acheampong's Rising Influence at Chelsea

Acheampong made 30 appearances last season across all competitions, including 17 in the Premier League and five in the Champions League. He only turned 20 in May and has been capped up to Under-21 level for England, playing six times for Lee Carsley's side. The versatile defender can play at centre-back or on either side of defence, which has made him a valuable asset.

Interest from Top Clubs

Transfer expert Ben Jacobs, speaking on the London is Blue podcast, revealed that Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich have all shown interest. However, no formal bids have been made. The interested parties have 'looked to develop relationships on the player side' in case a move becomes possible in the future.

Chelsea's Stance

Chelsea have reportedly made it clear that any approach will be turned down, with Acheampong considered not for sale. While the defender hasn't entirely nailed down a place in the starting XI yet, the Blues see him as a big part of their future. Much of the club's immediate future will be decided by incoming manager Xabi Alonso, who arrives in the coming days. The former Real Madrid boss will want to assess his squad before making decisions on who fits his plans.

Squad Changes

Chelsea have already lost a significant figure this summer, with Marc Cucurella departing for Real Madrid. A replacement at left-back is a high priority, with only Jorrel Hato currently in that position after the Spaniard's exit.
