Miller and Carter, a popular steakhouse chain with 125 locations across the UK, has reopened its doors in Chelmsford following a comprehensive month-long refurbishment. The upgraded restaurant on Barnes Mill Road now boasts a more sophisticated fine-dining atmosphere, aiming to elevate the customer experience.

New Jobs and Enhanced Dining Experience

The renovation has resulted in the creation of 10 new positions for local residents, including seven kitchen staff and three front-of-house roles. General manager Melanie Hutchinson expressed enthusiasm about the reopening, stating: "Our team takes immense pride in creating an environment that reflects our commitment to steak excellence. We're excited to welcome Chelmsford residents to experience our field-to-fork philosophy in this beautifully reimagined setting."

Hutchinson also noted that guests are encouraged to dress in smart casual attire to maintain the refined dining atmosphere. The revamp blends modern elegance with a warm, welcoming ambiance, featuring a new bar area where patrons can enjoy drinks before or after their meal.

A Legacy of Steak Excellence

Miller and Carter first launched in the UK 20 years ago under Mitchells & Butlers, one of the nation's largest pub and restaurant operators. The chain now operates more than 120 restaurants nationwide and has earned the prestigious "Masters of Steak" award from the Craft Guild of Chefs. Known for serving 30-day matured British and Irish steak, the restaurant offers 14 different cuts, each accompanied by a side, lettuce wedge, and sauce.

Highlights from the menu include a 16oz Chateaubriand perfect for sharing, a 20oz T-bone, and a 12oz ribeye. Classic favorites such as Miller’s Steakhouse Dirty Burger, pan-roasted lamb rump, and 8oz fillet steak remain available. Beyond steak, guests can enjoy starters like burrata and heirloom tomatoes, mains such as soy and mirin pork belly, black cod with jasmine rice, and beef brisket and short rib mac and cheese. Vegetarian options include the sunshine plant burger and spinach, feta, asparagus, and broad bean risotto.

Venue Capacity and Reservations

The Chelmsford location can accommodate 220 diners indoors, with an additional 32 seats on the outdoor terrace. Reservations can be made through the Miller and Carter website. The reopening marks a significant upgrade for the city, offering residents a refined steakhouse experience with modern touches.
