An M&S shopper has discovered an £8 bottle of red wine that he claims will be the 'barbecue drink of 2026'. Liam D'Arcy, known as the Wine Wally on social media, found the Reggiano Lambrusco on the bottom shelf of his local M&S and initially thought it had 'all the hallmarks' of a bad wine.
Lambrusco is often associated with sweet, red, sparkling wine from the 1970s and 1980s. However, this particular bottle has 'Secco' on the label, indicating it is a dry variety. In an Instagram video, Liam explained that not all Lambruscos are red and sweet; they can be rosé or white, and this dry version is ideal for summer gatherings.
Despite his reservations, Liam was pleasantly surprised after opening the bottle. He described it as a great option for summery get-togethers, adding: 'Oh my god. That is going to be my barbecue drink of 2026. No doubt about it.' Lambrusco is unique as a red wine because it is sparkling and can be served cold, making it a refreshing choice for hot weather.
Commenters on Liam's video agreed, with many who had tried the wine saying it is 'so good'. One person said: 'I never knew I needed something so bad.' Another added: 'I actually love the look of this. You've definitely sold it to us!' A third shared: 'Picked this up on the weekend after seeing your video! Absolutely delightful.'
